A female charged with pursuing Kate McCann apparently deposited her a voicemail message which questioned: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, 24, who court testimony revealed has persistently asserted she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial accused with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told communication data and information retrieved from phones logged Ms Wandelt persistently asking Madeleine's mother for a biological test over 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - at the age of three during a vacation in Portugal - is considered the most covered missing child cases and continues to be open.

'I Am Not Seeking Money'

Another phone message, shared in court, documented Ms Wandelt saying: "I know I'm fat and plain like Madeleine used to be, but I know what I know."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's voicemail said: "Imagine there is a tiny probability that I'm her? What then? Is that not crucial for you?"

"I do not need money, I maintain a living here in Poland, I just want to discover," the recording stated.

The jury was advised that through electronic messages, mobile messages and communications, Ms Wandelt requested a genetic test, transmitted childhood photos to her phone in a attempt to display a resemblance to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and asserted to have "flashbacks" from a childhood with the McCanns.

An intelligence analyst, a data specialist with the police force who compiled the evidence, told the court there "showed no any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally reached out to close associates of the McCanns, based on the call data.

On that date, Gerry McCann picked up a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "incorrect contact information."

That day Ms Wandelt recorded a recording on Mrs McCann's answerphone saying "I will continue and I intend to demonstrate my claim."

The court was informed the co-defendant struck up a connection through digital means with Ms Wandelt preceding accompanying her on a visit to the McCanns' residence in the county in December 2024.

Communication data showed Mrs Spragg had communicated through WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to say the press had depicted Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she deserved to be treated respectfully in the months before the trip to the village, the county, in last December.

The court was told communications between the two individuals, in that autumn, considering attempting to obtain Mrs McCann's genetic material from her trash or from silverware at a restaurant.
