Nearly 55,000 homes have so far been affected by the rains, with their items and shelters damaged.

Persistent precipitation over the recent period have worsened the already dire living conditions of the many hundreds of thousands of evacuated residents in the territory, as reported by aid groups.

"Terrible" Weather Creates Grave Dangers

A spokesman described the weather overnight as "awful", with rain so intense that as much as 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the streets.

"Last night was exceptionally terrible for the families. The heavy rains were so strong... And the gales were so powerful," said the spokesperson.

There is extreme concern that minors residing in temporary structures in soaked clothing will fall victim to hypothermia and other ailments.

Deaths and Widespread Destruction

Medical officials have confirmed that one baby has passed away from hypothermia and at least 11 other people have died in structural failures caused by the storms.

Additional accounts put a higher death toll. Spokespeople stated that several structures had fully given way and scores had sustained partial collapse.

  • Almost 55,000 families affected by flooding.
  • More than 40 designated safe spaces severely flooded.
  • Many people forced to move once more.

Aid Distribution Deemed Insufficient

Organizations have escalated distribution of tents, blankets and clothing after the halt in hostilities commenced, but they have said there is continues to be not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Agencies are striving constantly to bring in that assistance and to allocate it, but the size of the requirements is so immense that we continue to see a great number of families and children who are genuinely suffering each evening," warned one representative.

Ongoing Challenges and Ceasefire Plans

The subsequent part of the ceasefire involves arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the pullback of personnel, and other terms.

Aid organizations have stressed the imperative for "expanded and ongoing humanitarian assistance to address urgent and ongoing needs."

The conflict was sparked by an assault in late 2023. Following military operations have resulted in a significant number of lives lost in the territory, based on official figures.
