Palestinian-American Adolescent Released After Nine Months in Israel's Custody

An American-Palestinian adolescent having endured 270 days in imprisonment by Israel without charge gained freedom.
Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 at the time of his arrest this past winter within the occupied West Bank, where he was visiting on holiday from Florida accused of stone-throwing at Jewish settlers, which he previously denied.
The US state department expressed satisfaction with the teenager's freedom.
Mohammed, now 16, needed medical care right after being freed, family members reported.
According to them, he appears pale, underweight, and is suffering from conditions developed during imprisonment.
In a statement, the youth's uncle conveyed their "immense relief".
The uncle, Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" during the entire detention period.
"Right now, our priority is getting Mohammed urgent medical care necessary for his recovery following exposure to Israel's abuse and cruel circumstances for months."
US officials said it would continue to offer diplomatic assistance to Mohammed's family.
{"American leadership considers paramount to ensuring the safety of American nationals"," it added.
Twenty-seven US lawmakers had signed a letter to diplomatic officials and the administration, urging greater action for his freedom.
Mr Ibrahim, parent of four children managing a frozen treats business from Florida, had earlier stated Mohammed acknowledged allegations about rock throwing because the soldiers beat him.
There were no visits nor direct contact since the arrest, and only heard about his son's condition via legal paperwork.
He stayed without charge at Ofer detention facility in the West Bank.
