Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
