Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is not yet known and the US has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported debris landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
